DAY 1: ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK

Our guide will pick you early in the morning from your hotel. You will then head to the beautiful Arusha National Park. Arusha National Park is a beautiful highland park, covering 542 square kilometres. The park is located at the mighty Mt. Meru, Africa’s fifth highest mountain, rising 4,566 metres above sea level. From Arusha National Park, on a clear day, you can spot Mt. Kilimanjaro.

The scenic Ngurdoto Crater and the nearby Momela Lakes are among the scenic landscapes in Arusha National Park. Our guide will help you enjoy these and more. In the park, you can also visit the famous Fig Tree Arch (Ficus thoningii) – a tree whose roots make an arch over the road.

Mammals here include Ochre Bush Squirrel, African Elephant, Common Waterbuck, Bushbuck, Common Zebra, Common Warthog, Syke’s Monkey, African Buffalo, Leopard, Maasai Giraffe, Black-and-white Colobus Monkey.

Common birds in Arusha National Park include Lesser Flamingo, Greater Flamingo, Hamerkop, African Emerald Cuckoo, Silvery-cheeked Hornbill, Scaly Francolin, Grey Crowned Crane, Augur Buzzard, Crowned Eagle, White-eared Barbet, Cinnamon-chested Bee-eater, Narina Trogon and Hartlaub’s Turaco.

Common reptiles found in Arusha National Park include Tropical House Gecko, African Rock Python and Striped Skink.

You will enjoy game drives in the park all day, as you learn about the great animals and landscapes.

You can also enjoy a short or long hiking or walking safari inside Arusha National Park. Canoeing is also possible on Small Momella Lake, where you paddle across the beautiful water. These extra activities need prior booking – please alert our office early if you would like to enjoy these activities.

You will then return to your hotel or our guide can take you to the airport if you are departing today. This marks the end to our Arusha National Park Day Tour.
