DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN TANZANIA, VIA DAR ES SALAAM
The Southern Tanzania and Zanzibar Honeymoon Safari starts in the economic capital of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam city. This vibrant city is located along the shores of the mighty Indian Ocean.
When you land at the Julius Nyerere International Airport, our concierge team will meet you and help you with a transfer to the hotel.
If you have some free hours this afternoon, you can explore local attractions such as the National Museum and House of Culture and the Dar es Salaam’s Botanical Gardens.

DAY 2, 3 AND 4: RUAHA NATIONAL PARK
The Southern Tanzania and Zanzibar Honeymoon Safari will then proceed to the mighty and famous Ruaha National Park. We shall take a domestic flight from Dar es Salaam to Ruaha.
Ruaha National Park is the largest national park in the whole of Tanzania. This remote wilderness offers one of the best safari experiences far from the large crowds. The landscape here is stunning with large Baobab Trees raising their branches into the sky, as if they are waving to the clouds. The Great Ruaha River is the main lifeline for this magical park; and attracts the best wildlife concentrations.
Mammals here include African Elephant, African Buffalo, Maasai Giraffe, Common Zebra, Bat-eared Fox, Leopard, African Lion, Cheetah, African Wild Dog, Common Eland, Common Impala, Sable Antelope, Roan Antelope, Lesser Kudu and Greater Kudu.
Reptiles here include the large Nile Crocodiles.
Exciting birds found in Ruaha National Park include Purple-crested Turaco, Greater Painted-Snipe, Saddle-billed Stork, African Skimmer, Southern Ground-Hornbill and Northern Carmine Bee-eater.

DAY 5, 6 AND 7: SELOUS GAME RESERVE
We shall enjoy a local flight to Selous Game Reserve, where our Southern Tanzania and Zanzibar Honeymoon Safari continues.
This is one of the largest game reserves in the entire African Continent. It is often regarded as one of the few remaining “unspoiled African wilderness reserves”. The habitats in Selous Game Reserve include Miombo Woodlands, open grasslands and multiple wetlands. One of the main wetlands here is the mighty Rufiji River, that serves as a major lifeline to Selous. The Rufiji River drains water from the Mahenge Massif and the expansive Udzungwa Escarpment.
Mammals here include Common Eland, Sable Antelope, Greater Kudu, Common Wildebeest, Common Impala, African Buffalo, African Lion, African Elephant, Common Zebra, Spotted Hyena, Common Hippo and African Wild Dog.
Reptiles here include the large Nile Crocodiles.
Exciting birds found in Selous Game Reserve include Goliath Heron, Woolly-necked Stork, Bohm’s Bee-eater, Miombo Rock Thrush, African Green Pigeon and Livingstone’s Turaco.
We shall also enjoy a boat cruise along the scenic Rufiji River, which is often a great highlight on our Southern Tanzania and Zanzibar Honeymoon Safari.

DAY 8 AND 9: ZANZIBAR ISLAND – STONE TOWN/ OLD TOWN
We shall then board a local flight to Zanzibar Island. This beautiful island is always a highlight on our Southern Tanzania and Zanzibar Honeymoon Safari.
We start our exploration of Zanzibar Island at the famous Zanzibar Old Stone Town, which is also called Mji Mkongwe (a Swahili name meaning an Old Town). This city has amazing historical significance with architecture from the 19th century. Wooden doors on many houses are marked with beautiful art. This town was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site list in the year 2000.
Here you may also choose to visit some historical monuments and sites around the city. Some of the famous sites and monuments of Zanzibar Stone Town/ Old Town include:
- The House of Wonders (this place is also called “Palace of Wonders” or “Beit-al-Ajaib“)
- The Old Fort (also known as “Ngome Kongwe” in Swahili)
- The Palace Museum (this place is also called the “Sultan’s Palace” or “Beit el-Sahel“)
- The Roman Catholic Cathedral of St. Joseph
- The Anglican Cathedral of Christ Church
- The Old Dispensary (this place is also known as the “Ithnashiri Dispensary”)
- The Forodhani Gardens
- Hamamni Baths

DAY 10 AND 11: ZANZIBAR ISLAND – NUNGWI NORTH BEACH
We shall then continue our Southern Tanzania and Zanzibar Honeymoon Safari to the North Beach area around Nungwi.
Here we shall relax at our beautiful beach resort and take in the great atmosphere along the Indian Ocean coastline. We shall have opportunities for swimming, beach walks, diving, snorkeling, boat rides and many varied water sports.
There are also other local parks, monuments and historical sites on Zanzibar Island, and you can choose to visit some of these during your stay. Depending on your personal or group interests, our office will help you choose the best activities for your specific holiday. These experiences form a great part of our Southern Tanzania and Zanzibar Honeymoon Safari.
Nights in North Zanzibar.
DAY 12: FLY TO ARUSHA OR DAR ES SALAAM
We shall have an easy morning relaxing at our hotel or enjoying a local activity.
We shall then take a transfer to the airport, for a domestic flight to Arusha or Dar es Salaam; where we shall connect with our flights home. This marks the end to our lovely Southern Tanzania and Zanzibar Honeymoon Safari.
